A newly wedded man and four others confirmed dead after a bus plunged into a river in Aponmu village, Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo state.
The Lagos bus plunged into the Owena river on Sunday afternoon, April 18, killing at least five passengers including the driver. The accident happened after the driver lost control of the car due to high speed.
Confirming the incident, Mr. Abiola Fadumo, the spokesman for Ondo FRSC, said that investigation is still going on.
The newly married man identified as Adewale, was returning to Akure with his wife after the wedding at the Ikoyi Registry when the tragic accident occurred.
The wife of the man sustained injuries from the accident and their traditional wedding was scheduled next week. Meanwhile , other passengers in the vehicle were rushed in to the hospital, including a five-year-old.
