School Proprietor Allegedly Defiles 14-Year-Old Girl With Speech Impairment

A 45-year-old school proprietor, Timothy Onyiriuka, has been arraigned before Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Court for defiling a 14-year-old student with speech impairment in Lagos State, The Nation reports.

 

The suspect was said to be the proprietor of Apex Schools located at No. 12, Edomia St., Power Line, Oke-Ira, Kekere, Ajah, Lagos.

According to a witness, a policewoman, Insp Emem Okon, who was led in evidence by the prosecutor Mrs Arinola Momoh-Ayokanbi, the incident happened within the school premises on Oct. 21, 2013.

 

She further said that the girl’s mother had rushed to the Langasa police station to report the case.

 

During cross examination by the defence counsel, Mr A. C Abarah, she said that her superiors took over the case after she was sent to undergo a course in Kwara state.

 

She said, “On Oct. 21, 2013, the mother of the victim (name withheld) came to the police station in a lot of distress, we were all frightened by the way she rushed in.

 

“She said she wanted to speak to a woman and that her daughter was defiled by her school proprietor Mr Timothy Onyiriuka.

 

”My superior asked me to take her to one of the offices and report back to him.

 

“I reported back to him that the minor was defiled.”

 

She added that when the victim was examined, they discovered something that looked like a seminal fluid.

 

Another witness, a medical practitioner, Dr Oluwabusayo Alfred, who works with Ibeju-Lekki General Hospital also told the court what she discovered while examining the child.

 

Further reports said, the case has been adjourned to Jan 15, 2020 by the Judge, Abiola Soladoye.
