A model in Sudan, Nyakim Gatwech reveals that a Uber driver offered her $10,000 to bleach her skin, but she clearly refused.
Gatwech who is normally called “Queen of the dark” said she never felt offended when the man made the statement, instead she laughed and told him that she cannot change the way God created her.
“Why on earth would I ever bleach this beautiful melanin God blessed me with.”
“You won’t believe the kind of questions I get and the questions I get and the kind of looks I get for having this skin, some people stay snapping me asking me why am I so dark?”
“How on earth do they expect me to answer that question? Besides the fact that I”m blessed with melanin and I love all this darkness,” she said.
The melanin beauty hopes to redefine the conventional beauty ideas by letting people know that it is beautiful to be uniquely you no matter the colour.
