A final year student identified as Doyin from an Ondo State-owned Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba, Akoko has been swept away by flood after a heavy downpour.
It was gathered that Doyin who lived closed to a canal was swept away during the rain which lasted for about eight hours.
The Commissioner for Agriculture in Ondo State, Otunba Gboyega has reacted to the incident.
He cautioned the residents to stop the habit of blocking the drainage with refuse, and he warned against building houses around canals.
Also reacting to the incident, the traditional ruler of the town, Alale of Akingba, Oba Sunday Adeyeye Ajimo called on the Federal and State government to address the issue of flood in the town.
Further reports said the Acting Registrar of the University, Opeolu Akinfemiwa has ordered that all academic activities should be kept pending till the next day.
He added that more effort will be put in place in finding the missing student.
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Akungba, Shakiru Ajibo, has said that they have been able to rescue three persons including a landlord of the house.
