The British Broadcasting Corporation, BBC, has engaged in an investigative journalism to fish out randy lecturers in West African Universities.
The rate of sexual harassment on students especially the females by lecturers prompted this new development.
This follows after so many calls and protest against randy lecturers were made over the increase in sexual harassment in Universities.
The BBC Africa Eye had sent undercover journalists posing as students to expose those in the habit of demanding sex from students.
The Universities they undercover journalists were sent to were University of Lagos and University of Ghana.
However, it was gathered that a senior lecturer from the University of Lagos, under the Faculty of Arts, Dr Boniface Igbeneghu was exposed as one of the culprits.
Dr Igbeneghu who is also the head of Foursquare Gospel Church in Lagos was said to have sexually harassed an undercover journalist who posed as a 17 year old student seeking for admission at the University.
According to THE NATION, a reporter identified as Kiki Mordi disclosed that the lecturers had invited the student to his office for tutorials and started an inappropriate conversation with her.
Without being aware that he was being captured on camera, Dr Igbeneghu disclosed how other lecturers used what he called UNILAG Staff club ‘Cold room’ to take advantage of female students.
He said; , “Do you know that you are a very beautiful girl.”
“Do you know that I am a pastor and I’m in my fifties. What will shock you is that even at my age now, if I want a girl of your age – a 17-year-old, all I need is to sweet tongue her and put some money in her hand and I’ll get her,” Igbeneghu said to her on camera.
“Do you want me to kiss you? Switch off the light, lock the door and I will kiss you for a minute. That’s what they do in cold room.”
When she came out, the lecturer smiled and said he had only shown her what happens in the “cold room,” ridiculing her for behaving like a baby.
However it was gathered that the Lecturer is yet to react to the allegation and authorities of UNILAG had separated itself from the lecturers actions.
