In what looks like a dramatic moment during Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, the Peoples Democratic Party Kogi West senatorial candidate, Dino Melaye was seen having a face-off with Mr Mohammed Onogwu, the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to Governor Yahaya Bello.
Melaye who was reacting to the governor’s aide allegation that he was caught on camera engaging in vote-buying during the election, dared the All Progressives Congress to sue him to court.
Onogwu said, “We have clips evidence where he (Melaye) was distributing money (voters) on the line where they were voting.”
Responding to Onogwu who was still speaking, Melaye said, “What are you waiting for? Sue me.”
According to Channels Television, Melaye had initially accused the state governor of being the brain behind the violence which marred the election.
He alleged that about 16 persons died during the election and the opposition party deployed a helicopter to attack voters.
The PDP candidate added that he has video clips to back up his claim, adding that no result was canceled in places where violence occurred during the election.
Onogwu, who reacted to Melaye’s allegation, said the governor was not in Lokoja at the time when the violence took place but was at Agasa in Okene LGA with his convoy where he went to cast his vote.
“The governor was not in Lokoja on the day of the election and he does not have a dual existence. He cannot be in Okene and at the same time be in Lokoja.
“These are fallacious statements that they are making to discredit the entire electoral processes, to discredit the entire institutions that were involved in the conduct of the election.”
