A female biker has died following a violent crash on the R71 near the Schiettocht Military Base in Phalaborwa.

A motorcycle carrying a husband and wife collided with a Ford Focus. The woman was declared dead at the scene.

Her husband sustained injuries and was rushed to a hospital in Phalaborwa for medical treatment.

Five occupants of the Ford Focus were also transported to Maphutha Malatji Hospital for medical attention.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
