Just in: Suspect Holds Police officer Hostage at Ntuzuma Police Station in Durban
A suspect has been killed following a possible hostage situation that unfolded at the Ntuzuma Police Station in Durban on Monday morning.
KZN VIP Emergency Medical Services were placed on standby after reports of a hostage situation at the police station. Upon arrival, paramedics staged nearby while law enforcement officials managed the situation.
It is believed that the suspect managed to disarm a police officer during the incident. The suspect was subsequently shot and killed by police officers.
Paramedics are currently attending to several police officers affected by the traumatic incident, while social workers have also been deployed to provide psychological support.
The exact circumstances leading up to the incident cannot be confirmed at this stage and will form part of an ongoing SAPS investigation.
