JOHANNESBURG – Senegal have appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport over CAF’s decision on the 2025 AFCON title.

The Swiss-based tribunal confirmed the Lions of Teranga are appealing the decision to strip them of the AFCON title and award it to Morocco.

The African football governing body’s appeals board ruled that Senegal forfeited the final.

This followed several Senegal players walking off the pitch in protest at a penalty awarded to Morocco.

Despite this, the match ended with Senegal winning 1-0 in extra time.

But on 17 March, CAF announced it had upheld an appeal by the Moroccan Football Federation, overturning Senegal’s win and awarding a 3-0 victory to hosts Morocco.
