Tavern Robbery Suspect Nabbed By Community: Buffelsdraai – KZN
A 26 year old male was apprehended by members of the public in Buffelsdraai – KZN this afternoon (Saturday) at approximately 14:59 in connection with an armed robbery.
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) responded to the scene after receiving reports of a man being assaulted by a mob. On arrival, Reaction Officers found the suspect with his hands and feet bound by members of the public (pictures 2 & 3).
The owner of a tavern was interviewed and alleged that three (3) armed males had entered the premises last week, held him at gunpoint and fled with approximately R11 000 in cash as well as two (2) coin operated slot machines.
The complainant reported that he recognised the same individuals in the area today (Saturday), prompting community members to pursue them. One (1) suspect was apprehended while the other two (2) fled on foot.
The detained male was assaulted by members of the public prior to the arrival of First Responders. During questioning, the suspect confirmed his involvement in the robbery.
The suspect was handed over to Verulam SAPS for further investigation.
