Suspected Hitman Wanted for 10+ Murders Killed in Police Shootout in Pinetown

A 41-year-old suspected hitman wanted for more than ten murders on KwaZulu-Natal’s South Coast was shot dead during a police shootout in Pinetown early on Wednesday morning.

Police said the suspect was allegedly hours away from carrying out a contract killing targeting officials from Umdoni Local Municipality when officers tracked him to his hideout.

He opened fire as police moved in, sparking a brief shootout in which he was killed.

No officers were injured, and several firearms were recovered.
