JOHANNESBURG – Transport authorities are urging motorists to exercise extra caution on the roads as scores of travelers head to various destinations for the Easter weekend.
Traffic volumes are expected to peak on the country’s major routes.
Police and traffic officers will be out in full force to combat lawlessness and ensure compliance.
Transport Minister Barbara Creecy is taking the road safety campaign to the Kranskop Toll Plaza on the N1. It’s one of the busiest highways at this time of the year as thousands make the Easter pilgrimage to Moria.
The Road Traffic Management Corporation warns of severe consequences for officials caught in bribery and corruption.
