KZN Falls Into Hole While Illegally Urinating At A
Urination Stop Leads To Ditch Rescue: Mountview – KZN
A man who had stopped to urinate was rescued after he fell into a ditch on Jabu Ngcobo Drive near Mountview – KZN yesterday afternoon (Friday).
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), who were passing the area, stopped to assist after noticing SAPS Officials searching in nearby bushes. While assessing the scene, calls for help were heard from a ditch some distance off the roadway.
On investigation, Reaction Officers discovered that an adult male had fallen down a steep embankment into a deep ditch. An initial attempt was made to extract him using a rope, but the rescue was unsuccessful.
The Ethekwini Fire Department was requested and responded to the scene. Firefighters arrived with rescue equipment and conducted multiple attempts to retrieve the individual.
The male was eventually successfully extracted from the ditch. He appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, and it is believed that he had stopped to urinate before slipping down the steep embankment and was unable to return to his silver Ford Fiesta that was parked on the roadside.
The male suffered minor bruising.
