Fire Destroys Two Dwellings In Informal Settlement: Mhlasini – KZN

Two (2) dwellings were destroyed in a fire at an informal settlement in Mhlasini – KZN today (Saturday).

Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were called out to the scene after reports of a structure on fire rapidly spreading to nearby homes.

On arrival, Reaction Officers interviewed the homeowner who stated that he had secured his wood and iron dwelling and walked to a nearby shop a few metres away. Upon returning, he discovered the structure engulfed in flames.

Due to the absence of water and windy conditions, the fire spread to a neighbouring dwelling which was subsequently gutted. No injuries were reported.
The Fire Department arrived and extinguished the blaze.
