Suspended officer was found with cache of weapons and stolen case dockets
The sergeant was arrested during a raid by the newly established Madlanga Commission task team.
Nkosi is one of the key witnesses who gave testimony at the Madlanga Commission last month, where he’s been accused of links to alleged crime underworld figures.
When Nkosi was suspended on the 28th of March, he was required to hand over his service pistol and all South African Police Service (SAPS) property in his possession.
But just days later, on the first of April, the newly formed Madlanga Commission task team was granted a warrant to search Nkosi’s home, where seven licensed guns were found, one under his bed, another in his mattresses and another in his car, all in contravention of the Firearms Control Act.
Police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe said they also found six dockets in Nkosi’s Wendy house.
“The six dockets are CIT robberies, one that happened in Roodepoort, one in Musina, Limpopo, and two other hijacking cases. Upon further investigation, what we found is that when you look at the system, the dockets are closed as undetected.”
