Just in: Watch as Hijacking Spree Ends in a huge Crash
Three failed hijacking attempts resulted in suspects crashing their vehicle along Fennam Drive in the Phoenix area on Thursday morning.
It is alleged that five African male suspects, armed and travelling in a grey Mazda 2, attempted to hijack three separate victims at different locations within the Redfern and Whetstone area.
While fleeing the scenes, the suspects reportedly lost control of their vehicle and collided head on with another vehicle on Fernham Drive. The driver and passenger of the affected vehicle sustained minor injuries.
Following the crash, the suspects abandoned their vehicle and fled on foot in the direction of Industrial Park Drive. During their escape, they allegedly attempted a fourth hijacking, which was unsuccessful.
KZN VIP Emergency Services responded to the scene alongside SAPS and Metro Police. All victims involved were assessed and found to be in stable condition with no serious injuries reported. The suspects have since evaded arrest, and investigations are ongoing.
