Huge Explosives intercepted At Beitbridge Been Brought into SA By
A 42-year-old truck driver has been arrested at the Beitbridge Border Post after authorities intercepted a large consignment of explosives allegedly being smuggled into South Africa.
The arrest followed a joint operation led by the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks) near Musina on Friday.
Officials say the truck was stopped shortly after crossing the border, triggering a detailed inspection by a multidisciplinary law enforcement team.
During the search, thousands of blasting cartridges, connector capsules, and detonator fuse reels were discovered concealed inside the vehicle.
Authorities are investigating, with the possibility of more arrests as they probe the origin and intended destination of the explosives.
