One person has been killed and several others injured following a serious head on collision on the M4 Ruth First Highway between Broadway and Virginia during the early hours of Friday morning.
KZNVIP Emergency Medical Services were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, paramedics found another ambulance service already attending to one injured patient. A critically injured patient remained inside one of the vehicles, immediately further stabilization efforts were underway.
Once the patient was stabilized, they were transported in a critical condition to a nearby medical facility for urgent further care by Netcare Medics
A passenger from one of the light motor vehicles sustained fatal injuries and, sadly, showed no signs of life and was declared deceased at the scene.
The exact circumstances leading up to the collision cannot be confirmed at this stage.
The roadway remains partially obstructed and traffic is heavily affected while emergency personnel and recovery teams work to clear the scene.
