KZN Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi
In a recent statement, KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi expressed his concerns over escalating tensions involving foreign nationals in the region. His remarks come in response to reports of threats being made by certain groups against individuals perceived as undocumented immigrants.
While speaking he cleared one of the most asked question which was the police are not doing enough to stop these gathering and march from happening. The commissioners also asked why those matching are only attacking black or Africans only and stated that one day someone will get attacked who is also a South African
Mkhwanazi stated that civilians cannot be expected to ascertain the documentation status of individuals and that this responsibility should not fall on them. He emphasized the importance of a collaborative approach to addressing the issues surrounding immigration without resorting to threats or intimidation.
To facilitate dialogue, the police commissioner announced that he will meet with leaders of the March and March movement. This engagement aims to address the ongoing concerns and foster a more peaceful coexistence within the community.
The police are urging the public to report any incidents of threats or violence so they can take appropriate action. Mkhwanazi’s statements highlight the need for understanding and respect among community members, irrespective of their national origins.
