Shooting in Westbury Leaves One Dead, Four Injured – Including a 1-Year-Old Child
A tragic shooting took place in Westbury on Thursday night, leaving one person dead and several others injured.
According to reports, five people were standing at a bus stop when armed suspects suddenly arrived and opened fire on them.
A woman was killed in the attack.
Four other people were injured and rushed to hospital.
Among the injured is a 1-year-old child, who was also shot during the incident.
Police in Johannesburg have launched an investigation and are searching for the suspects responsible for the shooting.
Westbury has long struggled with violent crime and gang activity. The situation has become so serious that Cyril Ramaphosa previously announced plans to deploy soldiers to the area to support the South African Police Service, as police appear to be overwhelmed by criminal gangs.
