Just In: Mother and Daughter Killed in Woodlands, Pietermaritzburg
A shocking and heartbreaking incident has taken place in Woodlands, Pietermaritzburg, where a mother and her teenage daughter were brutally killed.
The daughter, 15-year-old Brooklyn Hemmero, who was a Grade 10 learner at Heather Secondary School, was allegedly strangled to death.
Her mother, Christina “Nikki” Joseph (34), was reportedly stabbed multiple times and also died from her injuries.
Reports indicate that the suspect is someone known to the family. It is still unclear who exactly the person was in a relationship with between the two victims.
The alleged suspect is currently in hospital under police guard, but authorities have not yet confirmed why he is hospitalized or whether he attempted to harm himself.
Police investigations are ongoing as the community mourns the tragic loss of both mother and daughter.
