Just after 05:30am this morning ALS Paramedics responded to an alleged Cash in Transit robbery on the N2 South Bound near the NPC Cement Factory South of Durban.
Initial reports were that multiple security officials had been shot. Paramedics arrived on the scene to find chaos. Paramedics found that Two officials had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. One of the guards had sustained critical injuries and immediately the Netcare911 Helicopter was activated to assist in rapidly transporting the man to a nearby Hospital for the urgent care that he required.
The second security official had sustained serious injuries and was stabilised on the scene by Advanced Life Support Paramedics before being transported to a nearby Hospital for the further care that he required.
The N2 was closed from the M7 Edwin swales offramp and will be for some time to allow investigations to continue. I would advise all motorists to avoid this area at all costs.
At this stage the events leading up to the incident is unknown however SAPS were in attendance and will be investigating further.
