New Update on the Uber Taxi Driver Murder CASE

Four men and two women are expected to appear in the Pretoria Magistrates Court in connection with the robbery and murder of e-hailing driver Isaac Satlat.In a shocking video widely circulated on social media, Satlat is allegedly seen being robbed and strangled to death.

The footage is believed to have led police to the identification and subsequent arrest of the suspects.

All six accused have been remanded in custody.

Three have abandoned their bail applications, while the remaining three could apply for bail on Monday.

The first three suspects arrested in connection with the incident abandoned their bail applications during their initial court appearance last Monday.

It’s not clear if any of the remaining three accused will apply for bail.

All six face various charges, ranging from premeditated murder to robbery with aggravating circumstances.In a dramatic development on Wednesday, the lawyer for accused number four, Tumishang Mabutla, told Eyewitness News that his client intends to plead guilty to the charges and will also abandon bail.

Accused number five, Mabutla’s girlfriend, Ofentse Senwamadi, is charged with premeditated murder and robbery with aggravating circumstances as an accessory after the fact.

It’s alleged that she removed her boyfriend’s phone from the crime scene in an attempt to prevent it from being linked to him.

Accused number six, Thabang Muthwa, faces a charge of robbery with aggravating circumstances as an accessory after the fact.

It is alleged that after disposing of the deceased’s body, the accused took the victim’s vehicle to Muthwa to have the car tracker removed.
