Shocking: Vehicle hijacking suspect loses his life in Pretoria
Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) Region 7 members responded to a vehicle hijacking scene in Bronkhorstspruit on Saturday, 28 February 2026.
During a patrol along R25, members noticed a male attempting to alight from a silver Ford Figo while it was moving.
They approached the victim, who jumped out safely, and pursued the suspect vehicle. The suspect lost control and collided with a sculpture. With SAPS assistance, one suspect was apprehended while trying to flee the other lost his life.
Investigation revealed the vehicle’s identification had been tampered with, and the suspect is a foreign national from Mozambique and firearm found during search of motor vehicle . The suspect is detained at a local police station#TMPDsafety.
