Thief Steals Gold Plates Worth Millions In Kwazulu Natal
A brass vase was stolen from a residence on Munn Road in Ottawa – KZN after an opportunistic suspect entered the property through an open gate early this morning (Tuesday).
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) was contacted by the homeowner requesting assistance after the theft was discovered.
Reaction Officers responded to the premises and interviewed the resident who explained that at approximately 06:30 he was inside the house with a family member while another resident had briefly left after dropping a child at school.
The gate had been left slightly open to allow the domestic worker access when she arrived.
CCTV footage showed an unknown male walking along the road carrying a two-plate electric stove.
The suspect, dressed in a black short-sleeve T-shirt and black track pants with a white stripe on each side, noticed the open gate.
He initially walked past the property before placing the stove on the ground and returning to enter the yard.
The individual was later seen exiting the premises carrying a large brass vase that had been on the balcony.
The item was broken into two pieces before being removed from the property.
The occupants were inside the residence at the time and were unaware that the incident had occurred.
