Democratic Alliance (DA) deputy spokesperson on Higher Education and Training, Karabo Khakhau, said she’s waiting to hear from the Hawks on what action will be taken against the ANC’s Deputy Chief Whip, Nobuhle Nkabane, for lying to Parliament.

This comes after the Joint Ethics Committee found Nkabane guilty of misleading Parliament about Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) board appointments.

This followed an investigation into the DA’s complaint laid against Nkabane in June 2025.

The committee found that she lied about the role of an advisory panel she claimed was responsible for selecting candidates to serve on the boards of SETAs when she was the Higher Education Minister.

Khakhau said Nkabane lied to cover up the appointment of people with African National Congress (ANC) links to the SETA boards.

“Under no circumstances will the DA watch there being corruption that there be fraud committed, that there be lies committed by any minister and member of Parliament. Each and every member ought to put the best interest of the republic forward and not that of their political parties. Now that we have this win, all we’re waiting for now is to hear from the Hawks.”
