This morning at approximately 08h28, GWA Marshall Security Tactical Officers were flagged down by a member of the public, along with employees from a well-known fuel station on Henry Pennington Road in Westmead.

The victim, a local vendor, had run to the fuel station seeking assistance after being approached by a suspect armed with a knife and robbed of his money on Henry Pennington Road moments earlier.

A detailed description of the suspect, along with the direction in which he fled, was immediately provided to the officers.

Acting without hesitation, officers initiated a rapid response and, with the assistance of members of the public, tracked and cornered the suspect on Nicholson Road, where he was promptly apprehended.

Upon searching the suspect, officers recovered the money taken during the armed robbery, along with the knife used in the commission of the crime.

Pinetown SAPS were contacted and arrived on scene shortly thereafter. The suspect was transported to the police station for further investigation and processing.

This Westmead armed robbery suspect arrested incident once again highlights the importance of visible patrols, rapid response, and real-time collaboration between the public and security personnel.

Consistent presence, immediate action, and results on the ground remain critical in addressing crime effectively — and it is this level of response from all role players that continues to make a meaningful difference when it matters most.
