Watch As Suspect Climbs Tree To Escape, but was later
A suspect was apprehended in Park Hill following a coordinated response between a vigilant member of the public, Marshall Security’s Emergency Dispatch Centre, Armed Response Officers, Special Operations Team, Metro Police K9 Unit, and Greenwood Park SAPS.
Yesterday morning at approximately 10h45, a member of the public noticed a suspect trespassing at a property on Clarendon Road and immediately contacted the Marshall Security Emergency Dispatch Centre. Teams were dispatched without delay, including Armed Response Officers and the Special Operations Team.
Upon realising he had been spotted, the suspect fled the property on foot, running through neighbouring properties on Park Road. The member of the public remained on the call, actively following the suspect while providing real-time updates, allowing responding teams to track his movements with precision.
What followed was not a typical arrest.
After an extended foot chase through the surrounding area, the suspect attempted to evade capture by climbing a tree at the corner of Blackburn Road and Chris Hani Road in an effort to hide.
Marshall Security Armed Response Officers, together with Special Operations Team members, and supported by Greenwood Park SAPS and the Metro Police K9 Unit, quickly surrounded the area. Teams then worked to bring the suspect down safely, with members physically climbing the tree to reach him.
After a determined effort, the suspect was successfully apprehended.
The suspect was transported to Greenwood Park SAPS for further processing and investigations.
This arrest highlights the critical role that vigilant community members, real-time communication, and coordinated response play in preventing crime. Not every arrest follows the same path, but persistence, teamwork, and action on the ground ensure that even the most unusual attempts to evade capture are brought to an end. The question is, if you are not a Marshall client, would your security service provider go this extra mile?
