It is alleged that following the theft of a motor vehicle in the Newlands West area, specifically SteelCastle, tracking agents, together with KZN VIP and other security stakeholders, acted swiftly on intelligence received regarding the location of the stolen vehicle.
Upon arrival at the identified location, security teams discovered the stolen vehicle allegedly in the process of being stripped. As security stakeholders moved in, three suspects fled from the scene. A chase ensued involving KZN VIP members and another security company, resulting in the successful apprehension of one suspect.
The apprehended suspect was found in possession of vehicle theft equipment, including jamming devices and other tools believed to have been used in the commission of motor vehicle theft.
The suspect was placed under arrest and handed over to SAPS for further investigation. The recovered vehicle was also handed over to SAPS for further processing and investigation.
