Altercation at Doory Bottle Store in Roodepoort Raises Concerns

A serious altercation involving allegations of assault and possible gender-based violence has been reported at Doory Bottle Store on 5th Avenue in Florida, Roodepoort.

The incident allegedly took place on Friday, 24 April 2026, at around 9:30 AM.

According to reports, a female customer entered the store to purchase drinks and attempted to pay using her phone.

The transaction reportedly declined twice due to technical issues. During this time, the cashier believed to be the owner’s daughter allegedly behaved in a rude and racially insensitive manner toward the customer.

On a third attempt, the payment went through successfully. Tensions escalated when the customer, frustrated by the interaction, pushed the payment device toward the cashier and accused her of racism.

As she exited the store, she knocked a six-pack of alcohol onto the ground.

Realising the mistake, the customer allegedly asked her friend to return and pay for the damaged items.

Before this could happen, the store owner, identified as Dory, allegedly confronted the customer outside.

Video footage circulating online appears to show a physical altercation between the two.

A bystander can be heard urging those involved to stop.

The situation escalated further when the customer, appearing distressed, threw nearby tiles toward the owner.

The cashier also reportedly joined the confrontation. In the chaos, the woman allegedly sustained injuries and her phone was damaged.

The incident has sparked concern over the use of force, alleged racial conduct, and the handling of disputes.

Police have not yet issued an official statement, and investigations are expected to determine the full circumstances. Video footage of the altercation continues to circulate on social media.
