Watch As Carjackers gets k!lled following attack in Ekurhuleni

On Friday, 20 February 2026, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Community Liaison Unit (CLU) Officers, in conjunction with the South African Police Service (SAPS) Highway Patrol Officers and CPS Security, apprehended three (3) male suspects following a high-speed chase in Alberton.

According to the report one was shot and believed to dead at the time of reporting this as its still unconfirmed.

While patrolling on the N12 freeway, Officers noticed two suspicious vehicles, a silver VW Polo and a Toyota RunX. Officers attempted to stop both vehicles, however, the drivers failed to comply and sped off, which led to a pursuit.

The VW Polo was successfully stopped near the Comaro Off-Ramp with the assistance of CPS Security. Upon inspection, the vehicle’s ignition had been tampered with and the original computer box was found on the passenger seat.

Further investigation confirmed that the vehicle had been reported stolen earlier that morning in Kingsway.

Meanwhile, the SAPS Highway Patrol Officers continued the pursuit of the Toyota RunX, which was stopped on Klipriver Road. Three suspects fled the vehicle on foot in different directions. Officers gave chase and successfully apprehended two (2) of the suspects. A search of the

Toyota RunX led to the discovery of suspected housebreaking and vehicle break-in implements.

The trio was arrested and detained at the Alberton Police Station. They are facing charges of possession of a stolen motor vehicle and possession of suspected housebreaking implements.
