Shocking Scene on M4: Women in Critical Condition After Horrific Accident
A woman has been left in a critical condition following a serious series of collisions on the M4 near Hyper by the Sea in Durban North on Friday evening.
KZN VIP Emergency Medical Services were dispatched to reports of a motor vehicle accident at the scene. Upon arrival at the initial crash, no injuries were reported.
However, due to severe weather conditions and poor visibility, a secondary collision occurred shortly thereafter. During this incident, one of the occupants from the initial crash was struck by an oncoming vehicle.
The female patient was crushed beneath the vehicle and became entrapped.
KZN VIP paramedics, together with another private ambulance service, worked swiftly under extremely hazardous conditions to stabilise the patient. A coordinated extrication was conducted before she was transported urgently to a nearby medical facility for advanced medical care.
Urgent assistance was requested from Metro Police following the secondary crash.
While paramedics were actively stabilising the critically injured patient, two additional collisions occurred at the same location placing emergency responders at significant risk.
All emergency services were in attendance.
Motorists are urged to exercise extreme caution during adverse weather conditions. Slow down when approaching accident scenes to protect both victims and emergency personnel.
