Three children wounded in Bonteheuwel retaliation shooting:

Three children under the age of 15 have been shot and injured in a suspected gang-related retaliation attack in Bonteheuwel, Cape Flats.

The incident unfolded when a vehicle drove through the A-Block area and opened fire near the home of a known gangster.

The shooting is believed to be linked to an earlier incident this week in which a suspected gang member was killed.

Tragically, the victims were not the intended targets.
Instead, three young children were caught in the line of fire and sustained gunshot wounds.

They were rushed to a nearby medical facility and are currently reported to be in stable condition.

Law enforcement authorities have launched a manhunt for the suspects, who fled the scene, and are appealing to residents for any information that could assist the investigation.

The incident once again underscores the devastating impact of gang violence in vulnerable communities, where retaliatory attacks often place innocent lives, particularly those of children, at serious risk.

Cllr Angus McKenzie posted on FB:

“We will not rest. We will not slow down. We will not allow criminals to believe they control our streets.”
