Suspected Serial Rapist Apprehended After Community Pursuit: Parkgate – KZN
A man believed to be linked to a series of Sexual Assault incidents was apprehended in Parkgate – KZN today (Tuesday).
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were dispatched after a Law Enforcement Officer requested assistance when community members identified a male on a school ground who had allegedly been pointed out by previous victims as being responsible for multiple Sexual Assaults on the same premises.
The suspect was communicating with an unsuspecting female and is believed to have been targeting her as his next victim.
Reaction Officers responded to the scene where the community indicated the suspect.
As Officers approached, the male fled on foot, resulting in an extensive pursuit through dense bush.
With the assistance of the community, the suspect was successfully apprehended and detained on scene.
During an interview, the suspect informed Officers that the firearm he had been in his possession was discarded during the chase in dense vegetation.
He further stated that the weapon was a replica firearm.
He is believed to be linked to at least four (4) other sexual assault cases.
The male was handed over to the South African Police Service (SAPS) for further investigation.
