Just in: Daredevil Police High Speed Chase Leads to an Arrest

On Friday 27 February 2026 at 11:05, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) K9, Intervention and Drug Enforcement Unit Officers, arrested a forty-nine-year-old (49) Foreign National suspect, who was found in possession of undisclosed amount of cash, unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

During an inter-provincial roadblock conducted on the N12 freeway, a silver Jetta came through at high speed, and Officers attempted to stop the vehicle. However, the suspect failed to comply, sped off and almost bumped a couple of Officers who were on the roadblock, leading to a high speed chase.

The suspect was tactically stopped at the Etwatwa off-ramp. Upon stopping the vehicle, Officers conducted a body and vehicle search, which led them to discover a stack of money, x1 firearm with a defaced serial number, x1 magazine and x 10 live rounds.

Further search, led to a discovery of the second firearm, hidden under the front seat with an empty magazine and a grey bag, in the boot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect, was arrested and detained at Springs Police Station. He is facing charges of possession of suspected stolen property and possession of two (2) unlicensed firearms, possession of unlicensed ammunition and attempted murder. He is expected to appear at the Springs

Magistrate’s Court soon.
