Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema said the only time he will accept that he is guilty in the firearm case against him in the Eastern Cape would be when the apex court says so.Malema appeared before the East London Magistrates Court for the 2018 case of discharging a firearm in public during a party event in the province.

The court found him guilty of violating firearm laws. But he said he will explore every legal option to challenge the ruling.

All eyes are set on KuGompo Magistrate Twanet Olivier’s decision on the matter. The magistrate has already found Malema guilty. However, the red berets’ leader said he will appeal the verdict right up to the Constitutional Court.

“It doesn’t matter the outcome, the fact that there is a guilty verdict. We are going to appeal this case until the high court in the land.”

Malema said disagreeing with a lower court’s ruling does not mean he is not remorseful.

“It is allowed by the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa.”

Meanwhile, party supporters are set to arrive in court in their numbers, while others are set to gather in High Courts across the country to picket.
