Two Carjackers Shot Dead Following A Speed Chase and
Two suspected robbers were fatally wounded following a shootout with police, on the afternoon of 13 April 2026, in Sebokeng. Members of the Tactical Response Team (TRT) in Gauteng were patrolling along Houtkop Road, when they identified a suspected hijacked vehicle with false registration numbers. They attempted to stop the vehicle using sirens, but it sped off and shots were fired at the police, leading to a high-speed chase and shootout.
The suspects’ vehicle capsized, and one of the suspects attempted to flee but collapsed a few metres away from the vehicle. Both suspects were later declared dead by paramedics. Police seized a firearm from the suspects, as well as explosives found inside the vehicle, for further investigation.
The vehicle was confirmed to have been stolen, linked to a Carletonville case reported in January 2026. #visiblepolicing #TrioCrimes
