Man Stabbed & Robbed Of Groceries: Canelands – KZN

A 26 year old man sustained a stab wound and was robbed of groceries including chicken, meat and vegetables after disembarking from a taxi in Canelands – KZN on Saturday evening (09/05/2026).

Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were dispatched to the scene at approximately 19:42 after receiving reports of a robbery and stabbing. On arrival, Reaction Officers found the injured male seated on the roadside with a stab wound to his left arm.

The victim informed Officers that he and three (3) friends had disembarked from a taxi travelling from the Verulam CBD in KZN when they were confronted by two (2) armed suspects allegedly wielding Okapi knives.

The perpetrators demanded valuables from the group. According to the injured male, his friends fled the scene while he was grabbed and forced to the ground. He attempted to resist and was stabbed on his left arm during the confrontation.

The robbers fled with a plastic bag containing groceries including five kilograms (5kg) of mixed chicken portions, beef, lamb meat, spinach and cabbage before escaping in an unknown direction.

Community members bandaged the injured male prior to the arrival of Reaction Officers.
