KZN businessman arrested for gruesome murder of three workers
Police in Camperdown have arrested a 39-year-old suspect for the murder of three people following the discovery of their bodies at a farmhouse in Umlaas Road, Camperdown, on Friday evening.
The victims were three men, all believed to have been stabbed to death.
KwaZulu-Natal SAPS spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda said police responded to reports of a murder at around 6 pm.
Police arrived at the property and discovered the bodies of three men, aged 40, 45 and 46, with multiple stab wounds. The victims were declared dead at the scene.
βA spear-like object, suspected to be the weapon used to kill the victims, was recovered at the scene,β said Netshiunda.
The gruesome discovery was allegedly made by a caretaker at the residence, who alerted authorities after finding the men lying inside the property.
Netshiunda said although the motive for the killings has not yet been confirmed, police believe the incident may have stemmed from a wage dispute between an employer and employees.
βAt this stage, the motive for the killings is unknown; however, a wage dispute between the employer and employees cannot be ruled out,β he said.
The incident has left members of the Umlaas Road community shocked, with police vehicles, private security companies and various role players seen entering and leaving the property on Friday night as investigations continued.
Magma Security and Investigations confirmed that its members were called out to assist at the scene where the bodies of the three men were discovered.
Netshiunda said a 39-year-old suspect is expected to appear in court soon.
