3 Person Shot De@d In Jeppestown Following A Drive By
A quadruple murder investigation has been launched after four people were gunned down in a hail of bullets in Jeppestown, Johannesburg, on Tuesday night.
According to reports, officers were called to the scene at the corner of Browning and Marshall Streets at approximately 20:50.
On arrival, authorities found a white Toyota Avanza parked opposite the gate of Jules High School with four occupants inside -two men and two women -all suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to their upper and lower bodies.
The victims were declared dead at the scene.
Investigators cordoned off the area and recovered 32 rifle spent cartridges as well as one live 9mm round, indicating the attackers used high-powered firearms during the ambush.
Preliminary information suggests the suspects were unknown men travelling in a white Isuzu double cab bakkie bearing Gauteng registration plates.
The vehicle fled the scene shortly after the shooting.
Sources say attempts to obtain witness statements proved unsuccessful, with bystanders reportedly too fearful to speak to authorities.
There are no surveillance cameras in the immediate vicinity of the crime scene.
Detectives from Jeppe SAPS have since launched follow-up investigations to trace the registered address linked to the victims’ vehicle and identify those responsible for the killings.
Investigations into the motive behind the execution-style murders continue.
