The man who was shot and killed during the cash-in-transit robbery incident in Bushbuckridge CBD on Tuesday has reportedly been identified.
On Tuesday, 5 May 2026, a robbery attempt occurred at a shopping complex (near Boxer) in Bushbuckridge CBD, Mpumalanga.
A suspect (one of two) allegedly forced open the door of a parked Fidelity Services armoured vehicle and stabbed the driver.
A security guard fired shots at the suspect, who fell. The injured driver then drove over the suspect (reportedly twice) while trying to get away/control the vehicle.
The suspect was declared dead at the scene. No cash was stolen. A second suspect fled on foot.
According to the family, the man reportedly suffers from mental health issues and was allegedly not in a stable state of mind at the time of the cash-transit robbery incident
